Lofoten is an archipelago above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway — peaks that drop straight into fjords, white-sand beaches, and small fishing towns (Reine, Henningsvær, Å) connected by ferries and scenic highways. The classic trip is the E10 road from Svolvær to Å, with side trips onto smaller islands.
Most travelers combine it with the rest of Norway: fly into Oslo or Tromsø, train or drive down the coast, then loop Lofoten before flying home. Worth knowing up front — Lofoten is expensive, the weather changes hourly, and the best light is in winter (northern lights) or around the summer solstice (midnight sun).
This is the write-up for the one Lofoten trip we've done. The page stays as a landing spot if we go back — Lofoten is the kind of place that earns a second visit — but for now it holds the one trip.
